In the 18th century, the largest arboretum in the world was located here on the fields where Hackney Town Hall and Square stand today.

Built by the Loddiges family of Nurserymen, for 100 years the glass house was home to a vast collection of exotic plants, trees and flowers, including fabulous collections of rare orchids.
At that time such flora, imported from around the world were awe inspiring and magical.

The town square is today prevailed over by two palms. These beautiful Canary Island variety date palms were placed here in celebration of that history.

JAGUARSHOES COLLECTIVE are pleased to acknowledge that fascinating past with our new bar and music venue.
