Yinka – It Started With A Parable12th September - 24th November, 2013

Modernist furniture meets African parable at the hands of furniture designer Yinka Ilori.

Furniture designer Yinka Ilori presents ‘It started with a parable‘ a solo installation/ exhibition taking place at The Old Shoreditch Station in collaboration with, and co-curated by Look Like Love who support, promote and showcase new designers.

With ‘It started with a parable‘ Yinka Ilori invites us into his world for a few weeks showing us how he has used traditional Nigerian parables to create meaningful
yet humorous furniture designs that tell stories that people can learn from. He presents us with a series of cleverly presented parable inspired installations in all three spaces at Old Shoreditch Station, which acts as a fitting back-drop, as the building itself has been renovated and up-cycled by its owners Jaguar Shoes Collective.

During the 6-week exhibition, which coincides with London Design Festival, Yinka will be doing live up-cycling using pieces donated by Jaguar Shoes, so join him on this exciting journey and see how he cleverly up-cycles vintage modernist furniture with a twist of traditional Nigerian parables that he grew up with.
