For a week in September 2005, working strictly in black and white, illusive art cooperative ‘Black Convoy’ covered every available surface at the JaguarShoes ‘Seventeen Gallery’ in their monochrome vision.

Bringing together the UK’s most radical freelance illustrators under one mantle, this collaboration saw wall to wall illustrations, giant cardboard robots, customised rubber tyres and limited edition Black Convoy beer.

‘Black Convoy’ is an illusive art collective that unites the UK’s most radical freelance illustrators under one mantle.

Black Convoy are:

Richard May -  Pixelsurgeon.com and Black Convoy co-founder, an illustrator who has produced an incredibly diverse range of work for editorial and commercial clients, including The independent, Time magazine, British Airways, Warner bros and Peugeot.

John McFaul – Black Convoy’s other co-founder, McFaul’s amazing mix of illustration and photography have lead him to create well recognised work for a large client base including Virgin Atlantic, Orange, MacUser and MacWorld.

Jon Burgerman – Draws, paints, clicks and sleeps. His work has been published in many publications i.e. The Guardian and Creative Review. Jon has worked on numerous advertising campaigns including designing a sick bag for Virgin Atlantic. His character animations played at variety of music concerts and festivals (V festivals, Isle of Wight) as well as taking residence on a special ‘Burgertown’ racetrack for SONY’s PSP game WipEout Pure.

Tim Marrs combines drawing, photography and screen-printing to produce his dynamic and influential style of illustration that have bought him recocnition and a stupendous worldwide client base including Saatchi and Saatchi, Jordan(Nike), KSwiss, Lucozade, The Independent.

Miles Donovan- Peepshow founder, Black Convoy alumni and one of JaguarShoes champions. Miles is probably one of the hardest working men in illustration. With too many high profile clients and projects to list. If you haven’t seen Miles work you must have had your eyes shut for the last ten years.

Andrew Rae-  Is the big daddy of illustration and one of JaguarShoes favourite people. Andy’s warped world has earned him a reputation in the field of illustration and he is best known as the Art Director on the BBC animated series ‘Monkey Dust’. His dark yet absurd humour, which found a home in the ‘Shoreditch Twat’ many eons ago, has since serviced a vast catalogue of high profile clientele.
