NO Way Exhibition23rd March - 23rd July, 2012

NO way in association with HUH.magazine present their first exhibition of 2012 at our Film Gallery, downstairs at DreamBagsJaguarShoes, from 29 March to 29 May, 2012.

PV: March 29th from 7pm till late.

The ‘2012 Phenomenon’ aligns various eschatological beliefs which dictate that on 21 December this year, the world will experience cataclysmic or transformative events. Some say this date will mark the end of the world, others the beginning of a new spiritual era: the end of a 5,125 year long cycle, to which we are being inexorably pulled….

The ambivalence of these supposedly monumental events is explored in a new exhibition of works created and curated by the NO way artists, imagined from their hideaway inside a post-apocalyptic bunker, representing something different for each: solace, or solitude, revelry or iniquity, madness or epiphany.

The collaborative installation comprises new works on paper and film by Sophie Alda, John M F Casey, Emily Evans, HIN, Leo Lachlan and Phil Harris.

Sophie Alda is an illustrator, artist and designer based in Hackney. Her work has been featured extensively in the press, lately at It’s Nice That, Design Week, Juxtapoz, Booooom, Computer Arts, Curbs and Stoops New York and Grafik.

John M F Casey is an artist working in paint, illustration, installation and performance based in Hackney. A contributor to Le Gun and Bare Bones, he has exhibited his work at 20 Hoxton Projects. Dazed refer to his work as ‘Mysterious, cult-like’.

Emily Evans is an illustrator, artist and DJ, and part of South Kilburn Studios, an artist-run project in West London. Her work has appeared at Art Wednesday, Design Week, The Guardian Guide, and she also contributes to artists’ newspaper Bare Bones.

HIN is an artist and designer based in Hackney. He has shown his work all over the world, and has worked for clients such as Burberry and Sony Ericsson, and has created storyboard’s for Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later and sets for The Correspondents.

Leo Lachlan is an artist based in Hackney. Her critically acclaimed work has featured in Art Review, the Hackney Citizen, and at FAD, Dazed Digital, Art Wednesday and Design Week among others.

Phil Harris The youngest artist on the NO way roster, 24 year old Phil is an illustrator whose work has been commissioned by Vice, Icon Films, Shred Publishing, York Notes, Soundshock and No Guts No Glory. He’s been featured by It’s Nice That and included in D&AD’s New Blood.
