To celebrate the launch of SelfmadeHero’s lates publication ‘Hellraisers’ we will be hosting a party and book signing in the Basement Gallery at DreamBagsJaguarShoes on Thursday 15th December from 7pm onwards.
Hellraisers is the story of four of the greatest boozers of all time: Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Peter O’Toole & Oliver Reed. Robert Seller and JAKe weave their four biographies seamlessly into one boozy adventure.
The tale begins in an ordinary London pub at Christmas time. Sitting alone at the bar is Martin, drinking himself into oblivion. The four Hellraisers, alerted to a comrade in need, are compelled to intervene. One by one, they take this disillusioned soul on a personal tour of their lives, their tumultuous childhoods, rise to stardom and chaotic personal lives; providing all wannabe hellraisers with four cautionary tales in comic form.
SelfmadeHero is an award-winning, graphic novel publishing house and have been putting out brilliant publications since 2007. For this collaboration they have brought together the talents of illustrator JaKe and author, Robert Sellers.
JaKe’s work is featured in many magazines including NME, TimeOut and Esquire. His illustrations also appear in How To Speak Wookiee and the Mighty Book of Boosh. Robert sellers is the author of Hellraisers, Bad Boy Drive, Hollywood Hellraisers and A-Z of Hellraisers. He is a regular contributor to Empire, Total Film and the Independent. The book is full of vodka-fuelled fun, parties, orgies, binges, blackouts and killer hangovers. What’s not to like….
