HEROES EXHIBITION BY LEISUREDream Bags Jaguar Shoes25th November 2011

We are very pleased to announce that our next exhibition in the Film Gallery will be curated by the lovely boys of Leisure.

Housed within an ever evolving website, Leisure is an ongoing discourse centred around a succession of themes & ideas. For their exhibtion at the JaguarShoes Collective Film Gallery they will be showcasing their latest issue…

HEROES: A MONTH OF WORSHIP

It’s often said that anyone who ever got anywhere was only able to do so because they were stood on the shoulders of giants. But who are these giants? How did they get so tall? Why do we want to stand on them? What is it about their shoulders that are so appealing? This month they’re looking back at the individuals who have inspired and amazed us. Real and fictional, famous and infamous, personal and universal. From billionaires with daddy issues, running around in their pants to the people responsible for the contents of our iPods, heroes come in all forms and leave their marks in entirely different ways. We need them because the world is not going to save itself.

To celebrate Heroes, Leisure have commissioned 5 artists to create new work to sit alongside a handpicked selection of features from the month of worship. Daniel David Freeman, Christopher Wright, Rosy Nicholas, Will Rigby and Oliver Jennings will present their heroes in a variety of moving image forms from gifs, manipulated found footage and stop frame.
