Our flagship venue, launched in 2001. Its name derives from the 1980’s bag and shoe wholesalers that once occupied our building, whose signage still adorns the shop front. In a time before bars and art galleries, this was the primary industry in Shoreditch and this venue (one of the areas first) defined this now prolific class of arts venue and this area of London.
Combining arts and lifestyle and creativity within a rough around the edges, architecturally honest environment, DreamBags JaguarShoes provided the template for this now abundant breed of drinking establishment.
Our ground floor area is a light and spacious room with high ceilings, sky lights and large glass shop frontage.
The site is located at 32-36 Kingsland Road, E2 8DA in Shoreditch, London. Contact number is 0207 6830912.
The basement bar is a cosy candle lit, raw brick hideout. As such, it is a versatile venue, that plays host any kind of event; club nights, live music performances, lectures, workshops, fashion shows, castings, Sunday markets and art fairs...
On weekend nights (occasionally Thursday and Sunday as well), our basement turns into a little club and we put a lot of energy into selecting peculiar DJs, music passionates, record labels from London and beyond. We work with wonderful people who play unconventional music on radio stations such as NTS, Lyl Radio, Red Light Radio, Netil Radio. All styles are welcome, the only thing that matters to us is to see our clientele dancing and having a good time.

It is also of course a blank canvas for regular exhibitions curated by JaguarShoes Collective. On a six to eight week timetable, a new exhibition completely changes and consumes the interior scheme of the two-story venue… So enjoy the shows while they last as you can expect a new look in a few weeks time…
A tequila and mescal cocktail bar, drenched in rays of golden light, Gold Step is aimed at those seeking out the good times, as well as those who want to explore tequila options beyond shots and margaritas.
The colour palette, textures, plants and an installation of televisions blinkering with Mexican films and commercials from the 70s and 80s capture an ambiance of cool Mexicana throughout the space.
The bar is a shrine to agave-based spirits, offering broad selection of artisan tequilas and mescals, with a menu that showcases 40 rarities alongside a sharp selection of cocktails.
Those looking to taste and experiment can savour shots that vary in price from £5 to £50 including rare and refined options like Grand Maya Ultra Anejo; a double distilled, slow cooked tequila aged more than 3 years in American and French oak barrels or a selection of renowned artisan products like Dona Celia Blanco, El Destilado Bicuixe Madrecuixe.
The original East London Arts collective, JSC create beautiful and unique exhibitions, events, publications. The organisation was born out of much celebrated Shoreditch bar and exhibition space DreamBagsJaguarShoes in London in 2002.
The unusual name of this founding business is derived from the two 1980s bag and shoe wholesaler signs that hang on the buildings original shop front.
