The DBJS show in Christmas ‘05’ was all about Buried Treasure…
…the walls were covered in the work from a series called ‘Branded’ by fine artist Suzanne Schurgers. Which included giant sailor tattoos of mermaids and skulls as well as re-worked Ronald MacDonald’s and Starbucks logos. A treasures chest was loaded with gold “booty” such as transformers, cars, coca-cola bottles and a lone Nike Dunk.
In the tables work from some of no-one’s most exciting contemporary jewellers and accessory designers, Daisuke Sakagughi, Susie Lloyd and Daniela Sigurd was presented. To finish whole skins of leather where branded with sailor girls and hung around the bar.
The work displayed at DBJS fused well established brand icons with 18th century ’sailor’ tattoos.
